Pokeman is managed by The Pokeman Company, a Japanese consortium between Nintenda, Game Freak and Creatures. The franchise copyright is shared by all three companies, but Nintendo is the sole owner of the trademark. The franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995, and is centered on fictional characters called "Pokeman", which humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other for sport.

Pikachu is Electric- type Pokeman and is popularly known as the mascot of the Pokeman franchise and a major representative of Nintendo's collective mascots.

It is also the game mascot and starter Pokeman of Pokeman Yellow and Pokeman Let's Go Pikachu! It has made numerous appearances on the boxes of spin-off titles.

Next we have Sandshrew, is a Ground Type Pokeman, introduced in Generation I.

Sandshrew, a bipedal mammalian Pokémon, but runs on all fours in the anime. Its brick-patterned yellow hide is dry, tough, blends in with desert sand, and protects its soft white underbelly and muzzle. Sandshrew has blue, almond-shaped eyes, a pointed snout, and triangular ears with white insides. Its tail is thick and conical. It has two long claws on each foot and three sharp claws on its forepaws, which are used to burrow.

Here Pikachu and Sandshrew are featured as plush characters. They are part of the Pokeman limited edition "Battle Playset" #25 & #27. Each set comes with cut out character game cards on the back, and fold-out Pokeman Battle Stadium. There are five (5) sets total, each with the same features.

In Generation I there were a total of 150 original Pokeman Characters.

According to the official Pokemon website Pokedex, the total number is 720. There are currently 802 Pokemon with Pokemon Red and Blue, Gold and Silver, Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl, Black and White, X and Y, and Sun and Moon. That, in total, is seven generations of Pokemon.
